Everyone knows Mopars are musical. Ever hear a Hemi at idle? Thats sweet sweet music to me. Or a chirp goin into second. A beautiful ballad. Heck, even the warning buzzer on a Omni GLH is kinda soothing. The music industry has always had a love affair with Mopars. They are the perfect instrument! So i thought id start gathering up the perfect Mopar Music Collection. Perfect for those long roadtrips or those short hops to the local NAPA dealer!I tried to pick songs you may have never heard of. None of the obvious "Chryslers big as a whale"

FigDish
"When shove goes back to push
"

This is one of my personal fav's actually. Our first entry may require some searching as its not even listed on CDNOW. Its a hard rock thats more garage than studio. Perfect for those late night pre-cruise night tune ups! You gotta love the cover! Its a take on the ol' model car boxes. Complete with FIGDISH AAR stickers! "1:24 scale. Model Automobile Kit Glue Required"

If this band were a Mopar they would be a:
1968 Road Runner 383 Auto
Could be confused with:

Weezer, on a bad day

Ministry
"Jesus Built My HotRod"

Psalm69

This one can almost be considered a classic. It's got several things goin for it. Engine noises, tires screechin and a T-Shirt with a Hemi on it. Their sound is closer to what it could sound like if you were actually INSIDE an engine. Pretty rough stuff here. Music to tune your car at night too IF you are trying to scare the neighbors. And frankly, they could use some scarin. You may want to look for the single for this one. Or just the T-shirt! Its available at most big car shows. Well rama-lang-lang- ramma-lang- lang ding dong!

If this band were a Mopar they would be a:
1971 Plymouth GTX, blown, slicks, primer, rusty quarters.
Could be confused with:
Chainsaw, on nitrous.

Primus
"Jerry Was A Racecar Driver"

Sailing the seas of cheese

Another of my personal fav's. The funky bass-slappin sound of Primus. Primus sucks. Everyone knows that (we say it in a good way). If you haven't heard Primus before they may take a little gettin used to. Its sorta Rush on dope. Goofy lyrics and a goofy sound. Its addictive. Plus they are amazing musicians. Ive seen Primus in concert about 5x. Each show is great. "Jerry was a racecar driver" is great song. Ok, so he drives a 442, but at least he wraps it around a tree in the end!

If this band were a Mopar they would be a:
1966 Dodge A-100, custom.
Could be confused with:
Rush on crack

Fu Manchu
"Boogie Van"
King of the Road

Just look at that cover! I mean look at it! No. Really, i'll wait... Coool huh? It's like a bad flashback. Ah. The days with "the van". Just you and Bobby-Sue, sippin some Schaffer, tryin to "get some". Fu Manchu is a great band with a sound that harkens back to the ol' days of good hard rock. The guys were probably born in the 80's but you have to give them credit for goin back to the good hard rock sound of the 70's. A great great cruising tune, find an open road, crank up the Kraco, and cruise.

If this band were a Mopar they would be a:
1969 1/2 440+6 Road Runner
Could be confused with:
Your old mix tape thats under the bench seat

Chemical Brothers
"Exit Stage Dust"

This one is on the list for 3 reasons. First, look at that cover. What a hottie! No, the car! The car! Second, the title has "Dust" in it. As in the stuff in the other cars see as you fly bye. And third, this music is great for your longer stretches of roads. Like thru the dessert. Plus it was used on the "Gone in 60 Seconds" soundtrack, so its got that goin for it too. The music is a bit too techno for some, but its all about variety when makin a mix

If this band were a Mopar they would be a:
1998 Dodge Avenger, lowered, and neon lights on it.
Could be confused with:
Windows98

Demonics
"Jesus Chrysler Super Stock"
"SuperBee
"
Formaldahyde Injection

"Tradin in his automatic for a pistolgrip" Come on! With lyrics like that, this could be the quintesential Mopar band! Hell, the song "SuperBee" starts out with the growl of the 440! The music is sorta like Ramones without the New York accent. Songs about Mopars, engines and racing! Ohh yeah!

If this band were a Mopar they would be a:
1969 Dodge Daytona
Could be confused with:
Ramones without the NY accent or Misfits without the Goth

Little is known about this band.

Queen
"I'm in love with my car"
A night at the opera

Every mix tape needs a ballad. It's just a rule. I don't make the rules, i just break em. So what better ballad could i include in this MegaMoparMix but the one about our true love. She warms our heart so. Queen is probably the band on the list who actually lived back when these cars came out. I can just imagine Roger Taylor was lookin at his 57 Chrysler 300 when he wrote this song. True love never dies. Lead singers do.

If this band were a Mopar they would be a:

Presidents of the United States of America
"Road Runner"

Ok. Im takin libertys with this one. Sure, its more about the cartoon then the car. But with lyrics like "if you on the highway and the Road Runner goes "beep beep".. just step aside or you might end up in a heap" It sounds like their talkin about the car if you ask me. P.O.T.U.S.O.A or P.U.S.A for short (is that really that short?) are a funky fun band. Happy sounding and extrememly catchy. Great for when the kids are in the car cause frankly, they sound like they could be muppets singing.

Slant 6
"Soda Pop Rip Off"

The good ol' Slant 6. The workhorse. Ol' dependable. Somethin you can always rely on. Great engine. Ok band. This isn't my cup of tea but they do have the name and I didn't have any chick rock in the mix yet. So i called on ol' dependable Slant 6 to fit the bill. At least as long as i find theres a band called 383 Magnum. Then im dumping this band.

If this band were a Mopar they would be a:
1972 Dodge Dart /6

Ventures
"Bumble Bee Rock"

No mix would be complete with out the Ventures. They ARE car rock. Plain and simple. You can't but be happy when you hear them. The guitar licks and sound make you think 2 things: Cars and the Beach and Girls. Ok that's three. So sue me. Its the Ventures! I picked Bumble Bee Rock for the obvious connection to the SuperBee. Man, when is it gonna warm up outside?!

If this band were a Mopar they would be a:
Plymouth Fury Convertible.
Could be confused with:
